Public Policy Skeleton

Unsupported Ticket Policy

This policy explains how DMV Protect handles tickets/citations that are not eligible for covered coordination services.

Last updated: May 18, 2026

Unsupported Ticket/Citation Rule

  • Tickets/citations not listed in the covered ticket policy are unsupported by default.
  • Unsupported tickets/citations are not treated as DMV Protect managed claims and should not be routed through the covered claim workflow.
  • Unsupported status may also apply when account standing, timing, documentation, jurisdiction, or policy conditions prevent DMV Protect from coordinating the matter.

How Unsupported Matters Are Handled

  • If the ticket/citation category is outside the supported list, DMV Protect should clearly explain that it is not covered as a managed DMV Protect claim.
  • If a public or non-active user asks DMV Protect to manage a claim, the user may be directed to signup, reactivation, or public paid-lawyer search as appropriate.
  • If eligibility is unclear, the matter may require review by DMV Protect instead of being automatically accepted.

Public Paid-Lawyer Search Routing

  • Unsupported tickets/citations may be directed to DMV Protect public paid-lawyer search so the user can review and contact lawyers directly.
  • Public paid-lawyer search is for discovery and direct contact, not a guarantee of representation, pricing, availability, quality, or outcome.
  • Users remain responsible for deciding whether to contact, hire, or rely on any lawyer listed in public search results.

No Conversion Into Covered Claim

  • An unsupported ticket/citation is not converted into a covered DMV Protect managed claim unless DMV Protect clearly approves an available exception under final policy.
  • Alex must not promise unsupported ticket coverage or tell the user that DMV Protect will manage an unsupported claim.
  • DMV Protect may review unusual situations, but unsupported status should be communicated clearly and professionally.

Legal Advice Boundary

  • DMV Protect does not advise users whether to fight, admit, settle, ignore, or plead to an unsupported ticket/citation.
  • Users should consult a qualified lawyer for legal advice, legal strategy, court representation, or case-specific judgment.
  • County/state traffic law information shown by Alex or public pages is general information only and may not be complete for a specific case.

Communication Standard

  • Unsupported messaging should be clear, professional, and not misleading.
  • The user should understand that DMV Protect is not abandoning legal options; it is explaining that the matter is outside DMV Protect covered coordination policy.
  • Where appropriate, DMV Protect may guide the user to public paid-lawyer search or recommend contacting a qualified lawyer directly.
