Public Policy Skeleton
Account Cancellation Policy
This policy explains cancellation and closure requests, post-cancellation support limits, no-claim member benefit review, and reactivation routing.
Last updated: May 18, 2026
Cancellation and Closure Requests
- Drivers may request cancellation or account closure through the approved DMV Protect account workflow.
- DMV Protect may require the user to verify account ownership, confirm cancellation intent, resolve payment issues, and acknowledge post-cancellation support limits.
- Cancellation requests may be reviewed with account status, subscription type, related open claims, and member benefit status.
No-Claim Benefit Review at Cancellation
- When a driver cancels or closes an account, DMV Protect should check whether the driver submitted or claimed a covered ticket/citation during the applicable 12-month cycle.
- If no covered ticket/citation was submitted or claimed during that cycle, the 75% no-claim ACH member benefit should be processed according to the No-Claim ACH Member Benefit Policy.
- If ACH details are missing or failed, the benefit may remain pending until the driver updates ACH payment information.
Cancellation After Claim Activity
- If a driver submitted or claimed a covered ticket/citation during the applicable cycle and later cancels or closes the account, the 75% no-claim ACH member benefit does not apply by default for that cycle.
- After cancellation or closure, DMV Protect is no longer responsible for supporting, managing, coordinating, or continuing ticket/citation assistance for that driver unless reactivation or new service is approved.
- Any future support may require reactivation review and applicable reactivation fee rules.
Effect on Access
- Canceled, closed, expired, or inactive users may lose access to private subscription, claim, document, case timeline, member benefit, and reactivation workflow features except where policy allows limited review access.
- Required notices, legal acknowledgements, security alerts, payment notices, and policy-required communications may still be delivered outside Alex Assistance.
- Public pages and public paid-lawyer search may remain available unless restricted by abuse, security, or platform policy.
Reactivation Routing
- If a canceled or closed driver later tries to open a new account, reactivate, or restart service, DMV Protect may check prior claim history and account identity matches.
- If the driver previously submitted or claimed a covered ticket/citation, reactivation fee rules may apply.
- If the driver never submitted or claimed a covered ticket/citation, reactivation fee should not apply by default.
Review and Help
- Cancellation, no-claim member benefit questions, and reactivation routing may require review by DMV Protect.
- DMV Protect may request supporting information before resolving disputed cancellation or benefit questions.
- Alex may explain cancellation rules and guide users to the correct workflow, but Alex cannot finalize account closure, approve member benefits, or approve reactivation exceptions alone.
